This is the last picture ever painted by Cyril Mann, just days before his death on January 7, 1980, at Whipps Cross Hospital, Waltham Forest.

The dazzling sun streams through the window, leaving the artist's shadow and paint brush darkly silhouetted against the light. Roses, books and scattered papers contribute to a chaotic interior, as light rays bounce at all angles, adding a feeling of disintegration in this sad, yet triumphant concluding masterpiece.
